Anybody,

I understand the DMP 133 printer will not work with an ibm
compatible machine because it uses a proprietary parallel
protocol. Does anybody know if I can fix this by making a custom
cable - just rearranging signals?

Regards, Andy

Andy,

Much easier to go down to your local Radio Shack and pick up
cable number 26-0225 in 6 foot or for a 12 cable get number
26-0222.

The DMP-134 is the only printer in the 100 series that has
the Centronics port. All the rest have the Tandy Centronics
port.

Robert,

So the cable is the only difference? Do you know where I can find
a pinout?

Regards, Andy

Andy,

In order to get a pinout you will have to get a manual on an
older Tandy printer. At the tail end they give the pinouts for
the ports.

Bob,

Yes, I figured that. Do you know anyone who has the manual?

Thanx for your responses.

DMP133 printer info. Tandy required a special cable, but you can
make it work by swapping pins 30 & 31 on the printer end of a
standard parallel cable. This applies to several of their
printers.

Don, I tried that. I guess it wasn't enough. Do you have a manual
for the printer?

Andy,

I found some of the infor I used to use my DWP230 Tandy printer
on my PC. The pins at needed swapped at the printer end are (31 &
33) . Tandy printers use input pin 33 as INIT control and 31 is
N/C. while standard centronic's used pin 31as the INIT signal.
So I had to swap pins 31&33 to get the printer to work. Sorry
about giving you the wrong info before.

Don, that did it! Thank you very much. Do you still use that
printer? What windows, word perfect, etc printer driver did you
use?

Thanks again,

Andy

For what I was using it for ,just letter writing, I used the
"Standard Printer" driver.

Glad I could help you out.
