Caution, you're dealing with a newcomer! I recently picked up a
Tandy 1000TX, complete with books. I recently crashed the unit,
and after two
weeks of trying to get it back to normal, got a new set of disks
for it.
Noticed in my books that a Serial Mouse was available for those
wanting
to use Microsoft Windows, CAD, GEM, etc. Is it possible that,
even tho
slow, Windows can be installed in this unit? And, if so, would it
allow
me internet access which is currently unavailable? Thanks for
your help
in this. Pete Egeler

Peter, I would not recommend windows for the 1000tx, since it is,
contrary to something said elsewhere, a X T machine, and not an
AT machine. Just because it has a 286 processor in it, doesn't
make it an AT. If you want to run windows you need at least a
true AT with at least 2 meg memory. I ran a Tandy 3000 with 3
meg memory for a number of years before I upgraded to my present
Tandy 3200, which is a 486sx with 8 meg memory, and 2.3 gig hard
drive storage. Now I wish I could afford one of them new Stealth
Aptiva 200 mghz computers. Its out of the question for me right
now.

Robert, Thanks for the input. Knew it sounded too good to be
true!
