What is OraWiz
==============

Orawiz is a package of Oracle add-ins for MS Access 2.0, developed
and tested in real world project development environments,for accele-
ratinf project development. It is especilally useful if you have al-
ready a running Access or Visual Basic application and you are consi-
dering to transfer your data to a more robust Rdbms - an Oracle 7
database server.

With OraWiz you can do that without having to change ANY code in your
Access or Visual Basic front-end. With this set of utilities from
AlmPort*Pro you can, based upon any Access database:

- Generate a complete Oracle 7 object creation script including Tables,
  Primary keys, Indexes, Referential Integrity Constraints, Sequences
  and Triggers to emulate Access type counters. Also load scripts can
  be generated to load data into the tables from an ASCII text-file.

- Transfer data from your Access-database tables to your new Oracle
  database schema - as generated by the schema scripts - using attached
  tables. Easy if don't want to transfer too much data.

- Generate Oracle 7 insert scripts from your Access table data.

- Generate, refresh and delete quick and easy Access- and Oracle7
  ODBC-attachments. It will also - with ODBC-attachments - extract
  the referential constraints from the Oracle database and create
  the corresponding relationships between the attachments in the
  Access database. A feature which will help you when you are
  creating queries on multiple tables.

- Generate quick and easy Explain Plan output for Oracle SQL-statements.
  It is also possible to review (and compare) previously generated
  explain plans by only one button click.

Installation
============

Copy the files orawiz.mda and orawiz.hlp to your own Access directory.
Start Access and open any database - create an empty new database if
there are no access databases available on your system.

Open the Add-in Manager from the File-Add-ins menu. It will check auto-
matically for (new) available MDA's in de Access directory. In the Add-
in Manager Window you will see listed under 'Available Libraries:' a
new entry: 'Oracle Utilities'. It is not yet marked with an 'x', which
means that it is not installed yet.

Select this line and click the 'Install' button. Click the 'Close' button.
Close and open Access again and open any database. That's all. The oracle
wizard utilities are now available from the File-Add-ins menu.

Registration
============

The OraWiz package comes as shareware. You are fully free to use it and to
distribute it to others. However: AlmPort*Pro is the legitimate owner of
OraWiz and you are not entitled to change any part of OraWiz or to embed
it within any other software package without explicit permission of
AlmPort*Pro.

Without registration OraWiz is fully functional save for the following
limitation: it will not function on Access databases with more than 7 tables
(not counting system tables or attachments). This should be satisfactory for
smaller projects and evaluation purposes. If you decide you want to use it for
larger scale databases, you should register. Inspect the help file for instruc-
tions how to register.
