      VERSION - AScribe DRAFT 3.0.  This document revised 30 August 1999.

     INSTALL 

      INSTALL - Type Drive:\Path\INSTALL <Enter>

      The INSTALL program will ask  where the program should be installed.
      
      PROBLEM? -  Download OK?   AScribe will run without being installed. 
      At the DOS prompt type Drive:\Path\AS.  If AScribe runs the download 
      was OK. If not, download <http://www.doc-scribe.com/>.

      AScribe DRAFT uses 300 KB of disk space installed.  About 600 KB are
      needed to expand and install the program.

     ADVISOR/LANGUAGE.DOC 

      The program manual is the HowTo ADVISOR. Read this from the program.  
      After starting AScribe, press F3 in the opening screen.  The Advisor
      may be fully edited, but changes are not copied to the disk file. 
      
      ALL VERSIONS  of AScribe now work with the extended character set of 
      the US ASCII code page 437 as well as those of the Multilingual code
      page 850. These features are built into the program and work without
      prompting. Note, punctuation rules used by AScribe are American.

      LANGUAGE.DOC is an AScribe word processor format file, part of this 
      package. It explains use of this feature in some detail.  Read this
      file with your word processor.
      
     REGISTER 

      REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED! - The program will catalog 40 sources,
      edit references to Turabian styles, without registering. Register to
      catalog more cards.  Try AScribe Write! to edit 10 reference styles.
      These include APA, Chicago, & MLA, and lead journal sytles in anthro
      biology, economics, geography, political science, and sociology.

      PASSWORD - Your password is sent by email, usually overnight.  Enter 
      this and your user name in AScribe's registration screen <F4> on the
      opening menu. Your password may be used with future versions as well.

      ALMOST ANY PC made in the last 10 years can run AScribe.

      SYSTEM? - AScribe DRAFT requires 256 KB of memory, DOS 3.3/5.0+ (but 
      no DOS 4.0), and an EGA/VGA+ color or monochrome monitor.
