[Properties]

Lead is such a common element that it is often used as a standard for
describing lesser-known metallic elements. This can make it difficult to
describe the metal as anything but a very soft metal that has a shiny
blue-white appearance when it is first cut. The luster dulls after a
while due to the formation of a thin film of protective oxidation.
Lead is the last of the Group IVA elements on the periodic table.
