1.6 NEW FUNCTIONS PROVIDED WITH THIS DRIVER

Change Refresh Rate on the Fly is available for OS/2 Warp 3.0
only. The new utility, located in the Systems Settings, allows the
user to change the vertical refresh rate "on the fly", that is, without
resetting the operating system or rebooting the system.

The following procedure will allow you to change the refresh rate for
your monitor without rebooting the system:

    1. Double click on the OS/2 System icon
    2. Double click on the System Setup icon
    3. Double click on the System icon
    4. Check to see if the monitor attached to your system is selected
        in the Monitor Box
    5. Click on down button of the Refresh box and select a refresh rate
(this refresh rate must be supported by your monitor)
    6. Click the Test button. The display will blank momentarily and
        return with a message box
    7. Click on the YES button in the message box if your screen appears
OK. If your display is not readable, press the ESC key to return to
        the original refresh rate setting.

   2.0 COMPATIBILITY
   ________________

This graphics accelerator driver is compatible with OS/2 Warp.

   3.0 PRELIMINARY STEPS
   _____________________

The following steps prepare your computer for the installation
of a new OS/2 graphics device driver:

    1. You must have OS/2 DOS Support installed in order to install
        this driver.
    2. If you previously installed SVGA, or any Cirrus Logic Driver,
you must return to VGA mode before installing any subsequent
driver. Please use the procedures in the following section.

4.0 SETTING YOUR MONITOR TO VGA MODE
   ____________________________________

Use the following procedures to return to VGA mode.

o If you are installing this device driver on OS/2 Warp
and you do not have a usable OS/2 Desktop, use
the following procedures to return to VGA mode.
However, if you have a usable Desktop, it is
recommended that you use Selective Install to set
        your monitor to VGA mode.

        1. Turn on your computer. If your computer is
already on, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart it.
        2. When a small white box appears in the upper-left
corner of your screen, press Alt+F1. If you see
the OS/2 Logo displayed, you must start again at
            step 1.
        3. When the Recovery Choices screen appears, press V.

Your video adapter is now restored and can work in
VGA mode. If you want to install a new video
adapter or video device driver, refer to Chapter
16, "Video Procedures," in the User's Guide to
        OS/2 Warp.

5.0 INSTALLATION OF DISPLAY DRIVER FROM DISKETTE
   ________________________________________________

To install the Cirrus Logic Device driver from diskette,
     do the following:

     1. Insert the Cirrus Logic diskette into drive A:
     2. Double click "OS/2 System" Folder.
     3. Double click on the Drives icon.
     4. Double click on Drive A:
     5. Double click on Install.exe.
     6. Choose "Install" from the Cirrus Logic Install Program.
     7. Click OK to let Install identify your graphics hardware and
         memory configuration.
     8. Select "Yes" to change your display driver settings.
     9. Select a screen resolution and close System Settings dialog
         box.
    10. Close down Drive A - Icon View, Drives - Icon View and System
         Setup Icon View.
    11. Remove the diskette from Drive A:
    12. Shut down and reboot the system.

Note: If video memory size is changed in a system, the
user must re-install Cirrus drivers (by re-installing
VGA drivers first, then the Cirrus drivers). Refer
           to Section 3.0 above.

   6.0 RUNNING IN UNATTENDED MODE
   ______________________________

   Install as follows:

       At the command prompt, type:

       A:] install /r:<path>install.rsp
where <path> == floppy or hard drive containing installation
           media

The INSTALL.RSP file contains a list of default responses to installation
options. These options are the location of drive containing the media, or
use of an optional log file (for logging the unattended installation).
