     Tropez Plus EEPROM UPDATE
ͼ

This procedure will re-program the EEPROM on the Tropez Plus card with the
latest, shipping information. If you are not having problems with the
Tropez Plus, DO NOT run this program. The update program should only be
run if you are having difficulties in a Plug-n-Play system or your
installation disks were labeled as version 1.0. This hardware update
is designed to work with the version 1.1 installation.

Reprogramming the EEPROM will mainly address problems with a PnP Bios or
problems in Windows95. Normal lock-ups in Windows 3.1 or 3.11 and DOS are
more likely due to resource conflicts and not an invalid EEPROM. If this is
the case, you can use the 'Configure' option in the Windows 3.1/DOS
installation program to find new settings for the card.

For those running this program to update the joystick parameters, please see
the section below on making the appropriate joystick changes.

Running the Update Program
--------------------------

1. The update can be run from either a floppy disk or the hard drive.
2. If running from the hard drive, unzip and copy all files to a new
    directory (ie. TBS)
3. Go to your new directory and type UPDATE.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the card.

Joystick Update
---------------
Certain Microsoft Joysticks (and maybe other brands as well) will not fully
function correctly unless they are attached to a joystick port configured
at Port Address 201-201. The default joystick port address is 200-207 and
this is where the Tropez Plus will continue to default to. If you need to
configure the Tropez Plus joystick port for 201-201, you will need to run
through the update procedure as described above. Once you have updated the
card, return to Windows 95 and go to Device Manager. Double-click on "Sound,
video, and game controllers" and locate the device Gameport Joystick.
Double-click on this and choose the Resource tab. Remove the check for "Use
Automatic Settings" and change the "Settings based on" to Basic Configuration
0001. This will move the joystick port to 201-201. If the Tropez Plus card
was previously working and you ran this update to change the Joytick only,
you do not need to do a full re-install. The Gameport should detect the
changes automatically.
