1.  WINDOWS 95 INSTALLATION

For installation under Windows 95 :

- Shut down Windows 95, install the WAVExtreme 32 board and restart
  your system.

- When Windows 95 displays "Found new hardware", choose install drivers
  from drive A: and then insert Disk 1 when prompted. Insert other disks
  in set as requested. Note that if installing Windows 95 for the first
  time, the "Found new hardware" dialog will not prompt you to install
  drivers. In this case, you should install Windows 95 without the
  WAVExtreme 32 board fitted in your system.

- Choose Windows default driver for both "Standard IDE/ESDI hard Disk
  Controller" and "Game Port/Joystick". You may be required to provide
  the Windows 95 installation CD-ROM and/or floppy disk set at this time.

- After the first disk has finished installing, a setup dialog will appear
  asking for Disk 1 "Windows 3.x and Utilities", please insert disk when
  prompted. This part of the setup process will install all the sound
  utilities and other necessary files into your system.
  The Setup Wizard will guide you through the entire process.

- At the end of the installation, a dialog box will prompt you to reboot
  your system to activate all installed software.

Note1: To re-install software do the following:

- Remove any old DOS/Windows 3.1 WAVExtreme 32 software:
  a. Remove any and all references to any WAVExtreme 32 software
     (such as IWINIT.EXE and any CD-ROM drivers) from
     CONFIG.SYS.
  b. Remove any and all references to any WAVExtreme 32 software
     (such as IWSBOS.BAT, MSCDEX.EXE and INTERWAVE environment)
     from AUTOEXEC.BAT.
  c. Remove any and all references to INTERWAV.DRV and
     VIWD.386 from SYSTEM.INI.

- Remove any old Windows 95 WAVExtreme 32 software:
  a. Double click the My Computer icon in the Windows 95
     DeskTop screen.
  b. Double click the Control Panel folder icon.
  c. Double Click the System icon.
  d. Click the Device Manager tab.
  e. Remove any and all Sound, Video and Game Controllers device.
     Do not reboot the system until all logical devices are removed.
  f. Delete any and all OEM*.INF files from Windows 95 INF subdirectory.
     This directory is hidden by default but can be exposed using
     the Windows 95 Explorer.
  g. Reboot the system.

2.  WINDOWS 3.1 INSTALLATION *********************************************

The procedure below describes how to install the software :

  - Place the disk labeled "Reveal WAVExtreme 32 Disk #1" in Drive A.

  - Type "A:\SETUP" or "B:\SETUP" (whichever applies to your system) and
    at the DOS prompt press ENTER to begin the installation.
    Setup will start Windows.

  - If you are in Windows already and want to run Setup, then Select
    FILE from the top menu, then select RUN. A dialog box appears,
    type "A:\SETUP" or if you are using b: drive type "B:\SETUP", now
    press enter, the Setup wizard will guide you through the entire
    process.

Setup will do the following:

  - Check your system for enough free memory to complete the installation
    process.

  - Create the directory C:\WAVE32 on your hard disk drive if it does
    not already exist.

  - Copy all necessary files to your hard disk.

  - Set all the sound system utilities.

  - UNINSTALL ICON:

    The uninstall program will remove all files related to the WAVExtreme 32
    Sound System. These includes Files, Directories and the program group.

    Uninstall WILL NOT remove the entries made in your System.ini, Win.ini,
    Autoexec.bat or Config.sys files. These entries must be removed manually.

  - Sound Card Configuration Icon:

    The "Sound Card Configuration" program will help you in configuring the
    sound card.

In CONFIG.SYS, the following will be added :

  DEVICE=C:\WAVE32\DOS\IWINIT.EXE INTERWAVE=C:\WAVE32\IW.INI

  (NOTE: This driver may not work with all CD-ROM drives.)
  To enabled and use our driver select "Yes", when asked if you are
  installing a CD-ROM with your sound card. A dialog box appears asking
  for settings (DEFAULT: Settings are Port:1E8, IRQ:11), this will enable
  the CD-ROM Port on the sound card. If you would like to use our driver,
  then select the Check Box; This will make your CD-ROM Active.

    DEVICEHIGH=C:\WAVE32\DOS\AM_ATAIO.SYS /P:1E8,11 /D:RVL000 /V
    DEVICEHIGH=C:\WAVE32\DOS\AM_ATACD.SYS /D:RVL000

  NOTE:
  If you do not check the box for the generic driver and you have a
  CD-ROM attached to the card. You must install the software that came
  with your CD-ROM drive (Provided by the manufacture). If you do not
  install it, your CD-ROM will not work.

In AUTOEXEC.BAT:

  SET INTERWAVE=C:\WAVE32\IW.INI
  C:\WAVE32\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:RVL000 /V
  (optional, only if a CD-ROM driver has been installed)
  PATH=%path%;C:\WAVE32\DOS
  CALL C:\WAVE32\DOS\IWSBOS
  SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T3
  (the path C:\WAVE32\DOS will also be appended to existing path statements)

In SYSTEM.INI:

  [boot]
  drivers=mmsystem.dll MSMIXMGR.DLL

  [drivers]
  WAVE=INTERWAV.DRV
  MIDI=INTERWAV.DRV
  MIXER=INTERWAV.DRV
  AUX=INTERWAV.DRV

  [386Enh]
  DEVICE=VIWD.386

Notes:
  MSMIXMGR.DLL is the Microsoft Windows mixer API library.
  INTERWAV.DRV is the base driver comprising WAVE, MIDI, and MIXER functions.
  VIWD.386 is the virtual device driver for Windows Enhanced Mode.

The Windows driver INTERWAV.DRV may be removed with Windows 3.1 Control Panel
"Drivers" applet, and restored by using the OEMSETUP.INF file in
C:\WAVE32\WINDOWS .

3.  TIPS AND HINTS

1) DOS games under Windows 95 (in either a DOS box or using DOS exclusive
   mode) are supported by launching the game using one of two .PIF files:
   IWDOSBOX.PIF and IWDOSXM.PIF. They are located in the WAVExtreme 32
   program group.

2) Some applications do not support digital audio correctly under
   Windows 95. To run these applications, start a DOS exclusive mode
   session with IWDOSXM.PIF.

3) When running applications in DOS exclusive mode, you can adjust the
   mixer settings using TESTMIX.EXE. To change the mixer settings under
   Windows (or from a Windows DOS box), use the Windows mixer provided.

4) For DOS exclusive mode, a "default" IW.INI is provided with settings
   that work for most machines. If these settings are not correct,
   please change IW.INI to correct any hardware conflicts.

5) The generic ATAPI host interface driver (AM_ATAIO.SYS) used by
   the Windows 95 DOS exclusive mode .PIF file IWDOSXM.PIF for CD-ROM
   support must be configured to use IRQ 9, 10, 11, 12, or 15.

4.  SOFTWARE COMPONENTS
