INTRODUCTION

This document contains the information on installation and use of the Amn Task
Manager software. This document is accessible during installation of the
program, and also after installation - in Amn Task Manager home folder in a
README.TXT file.

1. CHANGES & FIXES

1.1 CHANGES IN VERSION 2.0.0.132
1.1.1 Changes:
- Automatic saving and restoring of window position and size in the main
  window of the program has been added.

1.2. CHANGES IN VERSION 2.0.0.131
1.2.1 The Fixed Bug:
- "Power off" problem.

- Help files has updated.

1.3.1 Changes:
- Unload All for New process changed - now DDHELP.EXE (DirectX Helper) not
  unload.

1.4.1 The Fixed Bug:
- "$" in the Prison management bug. If you attempt to add command line or 
  executable module name in any prison management list, there is a error message 
  and Amn Task Manager must be restarted.

1.5.1 The Fixed Bug:
- Console Application Close button bug. If you close the window of console 
  application through its Close button, computer go to restart.

1.6. CHANGES IN VERSION 2.0.0.123
1.6.1 The Fixed Bugs:
- "Terminate process" button bug;
- "Run again" for short command lines problem;
- "Process scheduler" for short command lines problem;
- "Quit from process" for MS-DOS application bug;
- "Run application" dialog in font resolution different 96 dpi problem.
1.6.2 The New Features:
- Text mode Terminator which can terminate process if Windows GUI (Graphic
  User Interface) not response (available on press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Delete)*;
- Application Launcher - similar Amn Task Manager Run Application dialog,
  which can create new process and unload itself.
1.6.3 Changes:
- "Unload All Task" has changed to "Unload All for New Process". It can to 
  unload all processes from memory (include Amn Task Manager, exclude KERNEL32,
  MSGSRV32, MPREXE, MMTASK) and start Application Launcher.

2. PURPOSE OF THE AMN TASK MANAGER SOFTWARE

The program Amn Task Manager for Windows 95/98 is intended for the control and 
management of processes in operating system Microsoft Windows 95/98. 
The program provides following basic function:
- collecting and display of the information about carried out processes
  (including processes are running as system service);
- collecting and display of the information about the completed
  processes;
- display of the information about windows of processes and management
  by them;
- collecting and display of the information about dynamic libraries used by
  processes;
- collecting and display of statistics of use of resources of the computer;
- management of end of processes (it is possible planning end of processes);
- terminate of processes if GUI not response;
- management of priorities of processes;
- shutdown management of Microsoft Windows 95/98 and planning of shutdown;
- suspension of work of operating system by pressing a key Pause (computer
  continues work only in a mode of processing of interruptions, the work
  of the system timer is not broken) **;
- adjusted interception of a Ctrl+Alt+Delete hot key combination **;
- locking of a workstation for access to it trough the keyboard and mouse,
  with an opportunity of the restoration this mode after restart of computer ***;
- automatic unloading from memory (except minimal necessary for normal work
  Windows 95/98);
- advanced functions for start of the application and opening of the documents
  (including the planning of start of processes) is supported also;
- advanced opportunities of restriction of the permissions of the selected
  processes for maintenance of safe work with these processes.

3. HOT KEYS:

3.1 Globals:
    - Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Delete **** - activate Text mode Terminator;
    - Pause - suspend and resume work of computer.
3.2 If Amn Task Manager in memory:
    - Alt+~ - activate the Amn Task Manager main window;
    - Ctrl+~ - activate the Run Application dialog;
    - Ctrl+Alt+Delete - different by options settings;
3.3 If Amn Task Manager is not loaded in memory:
    - Alt+~ **** - load Amn Task Manager. For activate main window press Alt+~
      again;
    - Ctrl+~ **** - load and activate Application Launcher. It take some seconds.


4. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The minimal requirements:
Intel 486DX4/100,
RAM 16MB,
Microsoft Windows 95,
Above 2 MB HDD free HDD space
(5 MB for Install)

The recommended requirements:
Intel Celeron 266 or higher,
RAM 32 MB or more,
Microsoft Windows 98,
5 MB free HDD space.

The requirements on CPU performance and RAM size are established proceeding from
an opportunity of comfortable work with other processes at the started Amn Task
Manager.

5. INSTALLATION OF THE PROGRAM

Unpack archive, containing files of installation of the program,
in one folder, and start SETUP.EXE.
Further follow the instructions of the program. After end of procedure
of installation it is necessary to reboot computer. The Amn Task Manager
will be accessibly ONLY AFTER REBOOT of operating systems.

5. BEGINNING WORK

After installation of the program and reboot of the computer it is possible to
receive access to functions of the program, using reserved of a combination
of hot keys Alt+~, for access to the main window of the program, and also
Ctrl+~, for access to Run Application dialog.

6. PROBABLE PROBLEMS AND THEIR ELIMINATION

a) The situations are probable, when the work goes in one of modal windows of
   the program (windows making to impossible input the information
   in other windows of the program).
   If in this condition to press hot keys of a call of the main window of the
   Amn Task Manager, the main window can close by itself a modal window.
   For normalization of a window order, press Alt + Tab combination and switch
   again in the modal window of the Amn Task Manager.
b) If you have forgotten the password for function of workstation locking,
   reboot Microsoft Windows 95/98 in Safe mode, start the REGEDIT.EXE and
   remove
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Amn\TaskManager\LP01
   key value.
   Reboot the Windows 95/98 after and setup the new password in Options
   dialog of the program.
c) If in the list of the completed processes very many processes have
   collected on your sight, for clearing the list will unload the program
   from memory by a File/Unload Amn Task Manager command in the main menu.
d) If the program consumes many resources of CPU, try to cancel display of
   the Memory Usage column in the main window of the program. Additional
   try to increase an interval of view updating, or to transfer program
   to a hand-operated mode.
e) The Amn Task Manger can not to terminate  the Windows console application,
   if in this application the MS-DOS Task has started.
   If possible, run the MS-DOS Tasks trough Run Application dialog.	
	
NOTES:
*) Sometimes (approximately in one percent of cases) the problems are possible 
   at switching between a text and graphic mode. It can result in occurrence
   of error in some appendices.
   If possible - use termination functions in Amn Task Manager main window.
   Use Text mode Terminator as "Means of last hope"
**) This function becomes accessible only after will be included in dialog
   Options.
***) This function becomes accessible only after installation of the password
    (Options dialog). The restoration of a mode of blocking does not occur at
    performance Windows 95/98 in Safe mode.
****) After expiration trial period in not registered copy this function
      is not available.
