INSTALLATION NOTES:
In order to make the program work, unzip all the files in the same folder. And enjoy!

You have a lot of Mp3's? You don't know if you have duplicates?
It's too long for you to manually check it? try this freeware. It will find your
duplicates.

NOTE: If your Mp3 Filter interface is ugly, PLEASE, set your system font size to normal!
I have some problems having good interface with fonts set to big.

I suggest you to carefully read this file in order to use Mp3 filter properly and to its full
capacity.

How to use it:

there are 3 way to use it:

1- I am a Mp3 crack. I download mp3 all day, I burn mp3 CDs, a lot of CDs. Now my hard drive
is full (of Mp3, of course!), and I have to make some cleaning. I want to keep non-burned
Mp3s and erase those I already burned on CD. What to do?

First, insert a cd in your cd drive, select your cd drive with the drive selector, and press
'Find all mp3 on this drive'. It will scan the cd for mp3s. Once Search is finished, press
'Save To List' and you will be prompted for a CD name. The CD name purpose is to help seeing
which file is where. Once you added all your cds to your list, go to the download directory
where all your mp3s are, select 'Recurse subfolders on COMPARE' if there are mp3 in that folder's
sub-folders and press the 'Compare selected folder with my list' button and wait. Once the comparison
is finished, you will have all duplicate files in the 'Duplicate List'. Press 'Delete All' ( in the
'Compare Results' menu) to delete all files listed, 'Delete Selected' to delete only selected files, or
'Remove selected' to remove that file from duplicate list without deleting it.

2- I want to see If I have duplicate within the same folder (and sub-folders)

You dont have to make a list for this one. You just have to select your folder, select Recurse if
you want, and press 'Find dupe files in this folder'. Once comparing is finished, you get a Duplicate
List. You know what to do with...
Note: The left file will always be the smaller so you keep the bigger one.
Quick tip: Mp3 filter didnt listed your song on the right list? select your song and press X (Xchange)
to switch this song with the corresponding song in the Duplicate Reference list.

3- Where was that song... hum... don't remember....

You do not remember?? Go in your Edit Mp3 List section (List menu), type the wanted song in the edit box and
click Search. It will search for all matching songs in list and give you the first result of the search. To
get the next result, click on the same button (which is now a 'Next' button until you change the value in
the editbox).

4- What are Britney Spear's songs doing on my computer? Damnit, begone, cursed songs!

If you use this program frequently, it means that you are a mass downloader. It also mean that you have a
little control of the files you download. Only one thing is certain, you do NOT want Britney Spears songs
in your HDD (not because she sings bad, no! because you do not want to make illegal copies of HER disks! :P)
Well, to do so, you just have to click on 'Edit my ban list' in the 'Banlist' menu and write 'britney spears'
in the text box and close the window. When all your editing in complete, select the drive and the directory
you want to clean up, and click on 'Scan for unwanted files in selected folder' from the 'banlist' menu.

OPTIONS: - Recurse subfolders on COMPARE: If checked, Mp3 Filter will add all files in the subfolders of
the selected folders in the compare process.

         - Minimize on compare: If checked, when comparing, Mp3 Filter will hide in the system tray.
this will SIGNIFICANTLY increase comparing speed(the program doesn't have to refresh it's display
           this way).

         - When adding a folder to playlist, add subfolders too: Isn't that option's label clear?

         - Automatically check for new version on startup: If checked, when you start Mp3 Filter, it will contact
cathedly.dyn.dhs.org to check if a new version is available. If there is one, it will ask you if you want
           to download it now.

Extras: - Mp3 Player: Just Double Click on File List right of Folder list, Duplicate list, or Duplicate reference
it will play the mp3 as long as its a legal filename.

        - Music Control: To Change the pitch(music speed) or the volume, just move the bar indicator. Stop to stop
Pause to pause. Trick for the pitch: If you moved it, and you can't get it back to normal speed, move the
pitch indicator to the FAR left, it will be normal speed.

        - Equalizer: The equalizer included in Mp3 Filter is completely standard. To access it, just click on 'Equalizer'
          in the 'Misc' menu.

        - ID3 Tag Editor: If you want to edit the ID3 Tag of a file, just right click on it, it will show you
This file's tag. Edit it, and save if you want.

        - File renaming: This function will rename one or all your files using the ID3 TAG info. When you press on
'Rename' or 'Rename All', you will be asked to type a naming model. use % parameters to include id3 tag info
in your filenames. Here are the parameters list (The default model is Title - Artist. Do not forget the
          file extension at the end.):
          %1:Title
          %2:Artist
          %3:Album
          %4:Year
          %5:Comment

        - Poll: I love this feature. To access to it, click on 'Poll' in the 'Misc' menu. You can answer the current
question or you can view previous poll results. (I will submit new questions once in a while). Enjoy!
Note: The program will connect to the Net to get the questions, get the results, and allow yu to vote.

EDIT MP3 LIST:

Your Mp3 List is getting quite big eh? You want to change some things in? You want to find a song?
ok, just press on 'Edit Mp3 List'. A form will appear. Select the CD you want to make your changes in
with the left list ('CD NAME'). You can browse your List as you would browse your CD You then have 3
  choices:

1-Remove selected item
Select the directory (or the whole CD) you want to delete, and hit 'Delete selected item'.

2-Remove song from the list
Select the songs you want to remove (if you want to select multiple song, hold CTRL while clicking
on em), and click on 'Remove selected titles from list'. As simple as this.

3-Edit Song name
Did you notice that when you click on a song, the textbox's text at the bottom of the list changes?
So if you want to change song's name, you just have to edit it in this textbox and press the little
    'OK' button.

Note: To make this feature work correctly, you must have made your Mp3 List with Mp3 Filter v1.5 or better

EDIT LIST NOTE: If you messed up your list, just close the window and answer 'no' to the save prompt
                that appears on window closing.

PLAYLIST:

All mp3 will play from the playlist. If you doubleclick on a file in the file or comparison boxes,
it will automatically adds the file to the playlist. There are 2 mass playlist file adding features:

          - Add all found mp3s: after you 'Found all mp3s on this drive', the 'Add found results to
Playlist' option in the 'List' menu will become available. Click on it to add all listed
            files to playlist.

          - Add a whole directory to Playlist: Clicking that option (in the Playlist menu) will add
all mp3s in currently selected directory.

NOTE: To remove a song from the playlist, just select a song and press the 'Delete' button
                (on the keyboard).

REMEMBER

- The program will ONLY delete files listed in 'Duplicate List' (left list).

- When I say Select a folder in the directory selector, I mean DOUBLE click on it
so the little folder icon becomes opened

SOFTWARE HISTORY

1.17: I never tought that a software history would be useful for such a small pogram, but
since Mp3 filter won't stop improving, I decided to start it. So 1.17 is the base version.

1.18: Damnit! why didnt I see it? There was a bug with displaying the right filename on
the result boxes with List comparing. The result were switched! Thus, deleting was impossible
after a List compare. Corrected it in 1.18.

1.19: When I read Yippee review (www.yippee.net thanks for review), I tried to somewhat improve it.
      What changed? This:

      - Compare engine is less strict. if one word contains the other, it now match (now,
'Limp Bizkit' and 'Limp Bizkitt' would match)

      - Removed some unuseful features to simplify the interface. 'Save as...' (why did I
put this on???) and 'Find file in my list' (Easier to find a song with 'Edit List')

      - Added some hints to buttons and some explicative labels.

      - 'List Stats' changed to 'Edit List' so you don't have to 'hard change' your mp3 list.

1.2: When I removed the 'find mp3 in my list' thing, some people told me it was useful. However, I
still think that the old way to search mp3 was too messed up, so I just added a little textbox
and a search button for quick search.

1.21: Added Mp3 Player (Didn't know it was so easy to include in a program! I woulda done this before if
I knew...) and ID3 Tag Editor.
Hum, The Mp3 Player has some problems reading some mp3s... know that.

1.22: Fixed some innacuraccy with folder to folder comparison. (Will I be done fixing someday??) and made
      mp3 search slightly faster.

1.23: Added the Music Control panel. I just love it. do you?

1.3: MAJOR CHANGE. yeah! I scrapped those radio buttons, and extended the 'recurse' function. Now, you only
have 2 choices. Or you compare with your list, or you compare within the folder (and sub-folders). With
that system, you can tell the program to just compare ALL mp3 in your hard drive. You just have to select
your drive root, and press 'Find dupe files in this folder' having 'Recurse' checked.

1.31: Added some useful functions.

1.32: Fixed some bugs with those useful function :) (and made the program shareware)

1.33: Added mass renaming functions.

1.34: Added music progress bar and made the music playing continuous

1.35: Added a system icon. Wow! it almost looks like winamp!

1.36: Made it possible to play files that are listed after a 'Find all Mp3 on this drive'. It also tells what song
is currently playing on the main title bar.

1.40: MAJOR UPDATE! You wanted a playlist. You got it in this version. Those big buttons were ugly? Made a cute
standard menu. You didn't seem to want to buy that program. I gave up. Here is it. Freeware again.

1.41: I can't avoid it. there is always some bugs after a major update. I didn't tought about the fact that it was
possible to make a playlist with unplayable files :) fixed that.
1.42: Added some fun and useful feats. First, I made a cute playlist right-click menu with Play File, Edit Tag,
Locate, Remove from list and delete from disk. I also added a recursive function to add songs to the playlist
(Why didn't I think about it before?? I have no clue...). I also made the Shuffle thing less.... random.
(It builds a random list and play it, so before a song play again, all songs will be played (I added that
feat some time after v1.41 release, but I didn't thought that it worth a version change, so I only announce
      it on 1.42))
1.43: I noticed some days ago that people who had a good resolution but the option to enlarge the icons on, Mp3
Filter had some big problems to display its main form right. Since you cant resize the form without having
the objects in to resize too, I had to fix it. I also implemented a MUCH faster file searching system. It
takes less than 2 seconds to find all mp3 on my hard disk now.
1.44: I made the Mp3 Filter window to minimize when it compares so it can do it faster (a LOT faster). I also modified
the program so it checks the playlist integrity each time theres a file deleted (after a comparison). There was
a bug whith the v1.43. When you had the ID3 Tag window up and you closed the program, it would crash. Fixed that.

1.45: Added a Banlist to the program. You write down a list of unwanted songs in your ban list and start a scan. This
function will not compare as the rest does. If ALL words contained in a banlist line are in a filename, it will
      match.

1.46: Added an equalizer. This equalizer has been a good reason to add an INI file to the program to store changed
      parameters.

1.5: MAJOR UPDATE. This one is quite cool :). You ever used the 'Edit Mp3 List' feature? I improved it a lot. Now, when
you add a CD to your list, it not only saves the CD name, but it also saves the whole CD directory system. So when
you use 'Edit Mp3 List' now, you can browse your CDs as if you would browse anything. (Theres only one problem: you
must REbuild your mp3 list to make it fit with v1.5)

1.51: Waa! I'm so happy! I implemented a poll system to Mp3 Filter! Now you can answer my questions directly on the program!
I can't wait to see if you, people, will answer!

1.52: Quite cool update too. This version now can check if new versions are available. I also grouped all options in the
same menu. I moved the search function. This function is now a lot cooler. Instead of giving you a list of matching
results, it shows you, in the Mp3 List Stats form, where the song is by positioning itself in the List Tree.
