Greetings,

This program is a database which offers quick, convenient
access to a large variety of essential information
pertaining to 192 different screw threads. These threads
represent seven widely-used types - UNC, UNF, UNEF, UNJ,
ISO, ACME, and NPT.

Access to this information would be useful for persons such
as machinists and CNC programmers, as well as design,
manufacturing, and tooling engineers involved in the
manufacture of threaded components.

The program is complete in itself, but is actually a module
adapted from a larger program I'm developing which will
offer a variety of calculations designed to help
manufacturing professionals, with a decided slant toward
machining.

The program is freeware and my permission is given for
anybody to use it for any ethical purpose.

There isn't much involved with installing it - you just put
it in a directory of your choice and run it. It doesn't
modify your system in any way.

Using it is equally simple. Choose a thread type and thread
size from the drop-down lists and the desired information is
instantly displayed. There is no provision or need for
other forms of user input.

The program has a database of over seven hundred tap drills.
When a thread is selected, the minimum minor diameter
(internal) is checked and the first drill in the database
which is at least that large is located second from the top
of the sorted Tap Drill Guide. This gives a quick picture
of several drilling possibilities, which is much more useful
than the typical drill/tap chart, especially when used in
conjunction with the adjacent percent-of-engagement chart.

There's an inch/metric toggle which converts all data
between inches and millimeters.

I hope this program is useful to people. If you have any
problems, questions, suggestions, etc., I encourage you to
write me. The same applies if you're interested in being
notified when the larger program is finished.

By the way - for those who are interested, this program was
created with IBasic (www.pyxia.com). It's a wonderful
program for writing standalone Windows executables.
Developer support is outstanding, as is the IBasic
community. It costs thirty five bucks, including lifetime
free upgrades.
