-----==  SuperAlarm version .98 Readme File  ==-----

 -------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Readme file for Matt 'Indomitus' Grommes'
first real Windows95 program, SuperAlarm. This is the first
program I have written for any platform outside of Linux
so if it's crappy, that's why. If you are reading this then
surprise, you're a beta tester. Now you can tell all your
friends how cool you are. Although it is technically a beta
release, nothing should be wrong with it. I just don't want
to change to version 1 until it is _perfect_. I intend to keep
working on SuperAlarm until I achieve this somewhat lofty goal
so if you keep checking back on my website (www.nmt.edu/~mattg),
I'll be putting out new versions whenever I get something new
and cool put into it.

------------------------------------------------------
		What is SuperAlarm?
SuperAlarm is a free alarm clock program that plays either
WAV sounds or MP3 songs (via your MP3 player) instead
of an anoying screeching sound like my other alarm does.
SuperAlarm also saves your alarm times and MP3 player to
a small file (C:\salarm.dat; usually about 300 bytes*) so
they are restored when you restart the program.
SuperAlarm now minimizes to the system tray (the little area
next to the clock) so it isn't all intrusive on your taskbar.

* it's really more than 300 bytes due to the way windows' file
system stores data in clusters but I assure you, it's small
------------------------------------------------------
		How to use SuperAlarm
It's actually pretty self explanitory, set the alarm times,
choose a file to play, push the button. After you set your
alarm, just minimize SuperAlarm and it will alert you when
the time comes. That's it.
If you want to play a WAV file in a loop, just check the
'Loop WAV' box and push the 'Stop WAV' button to stop it.
Use 'Find MP3 Player' to, you guessed it, find the MP3 player
you want to use.
 It's just that easy.

		    General Info
SuperAlarm is, and always will be, free. I started out using
BBSs and free software and I love the idea of nag-free
shareware. If, out of the kindness of your heart, you choose
to send me anything (a postcard from where you live,
pizza money, etc.) I will be eternally grateful and you will
also recieve SuperPriority email tech support. This means
that I will answer your email questions before I do anything
else. There is only one person who has priority above
SuperPriority and she knows who she is. :) My mailing address is
at the end of this file.
I have tested SuperAlarm under Win95 and a little bit under
Windows NT 4 (sp2 & 3). If you use it under Win98, WinNT 5, etc.
please tell me.
The only MP3 player I have tested SuperAlarm with is Winamp.
(www.winamp.com) If your personal MP3 player supports
command-line input of songs then it should work. Again, if you
use SuperAlarm with any other MP3 player, please tell me
(mattg@nmt.edu). If you don't use Winamp, you reall should. It
rocks.

		      Soon to come
-- Tabs	(maybe)
I am going to work on converting SuperAlarm to a tabbed
application, like the 'System' menu in your Control Panel.
-- new interface (probably)
I have a new interface that I'll be working on for the post
1.0 releases that will be more compact, probably easier to use,
and will facilitate adding a bunch more cool features
-- Snooze bar
I am adding a snooze bar as soon as I get the alarm restart
code to work
-- Alarm restarts
At the moment, if you push the 'Set Alarm' button and then
change the alarm time, it doesn't clear the old time. That
will be fixed soon in the .99 release (soon!)
-- CD Player
One of my longer term goals is to add a CD player to SuperAlarm.
-- any other stuff I can think of
-- any other stuff that you can think of
I want to make SuperAlarm a product of it's users wishes. If
you have a feature you'd like to see, please tell me.

		Bugs & What's New
6.16.98 .98 fixed the tray icon. made it so you can set alarms
for different days and it keeps checking them after the
first has gone off. fixed the title change to keep up
		with the new alarm function
fixed the alarm checking algorithm to make it easier to
impliment multiple alarms per day and snooze feature.
fixed freaky visual C++ bug that was spontaneously changing
		variables (bad visual c++, bad!)
		Also updated the SuperAlarm webpage
		(www.nmt.edu/~mattg/superalarm.html)
6.6.98 .9 _finally_ added a tray icon so SuperAlarm now minimizes
nicely and doesn't take up room on the taskbar. Thanks
to everyone that suggested that idea.
4.20.98 .82 fixed it so you can copy and paste files into the file
boxes. Made the file checks not-case sensitive. Took out
the Config dialog since it wasn't used to much and caused
	   some weird problems.
3.4.98 added the 'Configure' dialog instead of trying to squeeze
all of the buttons and other assorted configuration
	   stuff onto the main interface.
2.13.98 added support for playing Winamp playlists (.m3u files)
2.24.98 added WAV looping and fixed the Open dialog setting
the filename to *.* on Cancel (thanks Alexander)
