                >c:
                >md sp
                >cd \sp

        2. Copy the file spedta33.zip to this directory.

           do

              c:\sp>pkunzip spedta33

All necessary files will be extracted to this directory.

        3. To run SP .
                >SP

        4. IMPORTANT :

                      PASSWORD - ' ' i.e just 3 blank spaces
                                 apostrophes not included !

        5. A Walk through the software :

Load FILE.FMT into an ascii editor to view it.

It also contains instructions regarding how to
           create formats.

(FILE.FMT contains all the formats of the files
you create - the word 'format' is the same as
'structure' in XBase terminology i.e the type
of field and length of field )

There are some real formats included from real world jobs
at various installations. Please look these up
           some comments are included.

Change to the directory c:\sp ( the software will only run
           from this directory ).

                Run SP.EXE . By typing SP .

           1. Press C for DATA DRIVE.
           2. Enter 3 spaces and <ENTER> for PASSWORD.
           3. Leave NAME blank. Press Enter .
           4. Keep say 'U' or 'I' key pressed to enter the fields.
           5. In particular note .
              1. How the format changes for every record
because the word CIRCLE is there in the format name . At the
                 end of FILE.FMT .
              2. How a total shows at the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
The field type is 'X'. Only one field can be totaled
                 in the Unregistered version.
              3. Note the Q fields . This is a short cut for those who
want to verify only the important fields . Like Share
issue numbers . Account numbers etc. This field needs to be
                 entered correctly twice.
              4. Remember the '9' changes to '0' 'U' to '1' 'I' to '2' etc
                 for numeric fields.
              5. Note that the '7/&' key is used for manual duplication i.e
the previous contents will be duplicated
                 in the current record .
              6. By pressing ^H or ^U the keyboard type is
changed. Kindly lookup manual for more
                 details.

Help is available at every stage even at menus .
           Press F1.

        6. Manual is included.
           To print out do

                >Copy manual.txt prn .

To enter data in any directory not the default c:\SP.

         1. Change to the drive on which the directory exists.
         2. Change to that directory.
         3. Copy FILE.FMT to that directory.
         4. Do c:\sp\sp to run SP.exe.

SPEEDATA is component software . By which we mean ,nothing,
which is expected to be in a working installation is included
        in SPEEDATA .

Requires : MSDOS OS , Any text editor - NE , EDIT.COM etc.
        ----------------------------------------------------------
An external editor has to be used for creating formats.
The SDF files created can be read into FOXPRO etc . For
extensive validation , reports etc . None of these (i.e
report generators etc.) are featured in SP .
On the other hand SP maximises the key entry operation and
we would be happy if anyone can show us ANY software
with the work reducing features provided in SP.

        Note :

Mus.sp is a file which plays a short tune at the end. View
        this file for instructions.
Use play.com a Pc Mag util to play the file.
Play mus.sp/F is to be typed.

Use DN to view short comments about all files.
Use DR to view the directory . Highlight any file and press
enter to view the file ( even binary files ).
