  Molybdenum can be described as a hard, silvery-white metal, but it is
more often produced, stored, and used as a gray, powdery substance. 
Chemically it resembles a cross between chromium (Cr) and tungsten (W) -
elements appearing directly above and below molybdenum on the periodic
table of the elements.
